Dear parent/ carer,
Year 11 Information Evening – Thursday 16th October 2025
I am writing to invite you to a Year 11 Information Evening on Thursday 16th October from 4:30pm to 5:30pm. This evening is designed to provide you and your child with important information on their GCSE and vocational qualifications which conclude in Summer 2025.
The evening is a fantastic opportunity for you to gain an excellent insight into your child’s important final year at the academy. More importantly, it will provide you with practical, research-based strategies to help your child develop strong independent revision habits. This includes how to encourage active revision techniques. These approaches are proven to boost exam performance and will equip your child with the skills needed to succeed not only this year but also in their future studies.
The event will provide all families with the opportunity to:
- Receive a presentation from Mr Stevens (Principal) and Mrs Green (Vice Principal) on the GCSE examinations and the support package the academy is providing your child this year;
- Visit Curriculum information stalls to discuss with Directors of Learning about your child’s curriculum and the types of assessments they will sit in the summer of 2025;
- Receive Sixth Form information and entry guidance from Mrs Spocchia (Head of Hewlett College);
- Access a variety of revision materials and guidance linked to common misconceptions and exam techniques
The evening is an important milestone in your child’s academic journey at Leigh Academy Minster, and it is important that you are able to attend to support your child. Please note this is a general information evening and there will not be opportunities to meet separately with teachers.
If you wish to discuss anything specifically related to your child we will be holding our Year 11 Parents’ Evening on Thursday 22nd January or contact your child’s small school. This evening will coincide with the release of your child’s mock examination results.
Thank you in advance for your support with your child’s academic progress this year,
Yours faithfully
Mr. M. Stevens | Principal
