Dear parent/ carer,
Homework Expectations
We are committed to ensuring your child achieves their full potential, and regular, purposeful homework is an essential part of their learning and progress. This letter outlines the expectations for all students regarding the setting and completion of homework.
Setting and Accessing Homework
All homework will be set and accessible to students via Google Classrooms. Departments have the autonomy to choose the platform they use for the actual homework task, which may include:
- Online learning platforms such as SPARX or Seneca.
- Google Forms or self-created worksheets/tasks.
All tasks set on Google Classrooms will be organised under the ‘homework’ topic and titled clearly with a number, the full date, and the homework title (e.g., 1. Monday 3rd November 2025, Mime Quiz). All homework will be set with a specific due date.
Communication and Completion
To help you monitor your child’s progress, for online platforms like Sparx or Seneca, you may receive direct emails from these services regarding your child’s completion or non-completion of homework.
Complete/Incomplete Homework
We take the completion of homework seriously and have clear sanctions for non-submission as well as rewards for excellent homework.
- Excellent Homework: If a piece of homework is deemed to be excellent, a merit point will be given.
- Incomplete Homework: If a piece of homework is not completed, a 30-minute detention will be set.
- Persistent Non-Completion: If homework is persistently not completed, a 1-hour detention will be set.
Homework Club
In order to support students, we run a homework club on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 15:15 to 16:00 in W008.
Module 2 Homework Timetable
The specific timetable for your child’s year group has been inserted below: An ‘X’ marks where your child will be set homework for that subject in that week, for example a year 7 student will be set homework for English, Maths, Science and Geography in week 1 of module 2. For years 10 and 11, where it states ‘Cycle 1’ etc. students will be set 1 piece of homework during that two week period.
Thank you for your support in ensuring your child meets these important academic expectations.
Yours sincerely,
Mr C Brown | Assistant Principal for Wright College
