Year 11 Mock Examinations

Dear parent/ carers,

Year 11 Mock Examinations

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support during module 1, and to explain a key period during module 2 that will have a significant impact on your child’s academic progress this year.

Please find a copy of the mock examination timetable at the bottom of this letter, to support planned revision. These mock exams will be held under full exam conditions and the highest expectations of attitudes and productivity will be enforced. Please can you ensure that your child is adequately equipped for all exams with a black pen and a ruler.

To help prepare students for their upcoming mock series, subject staff have created a bank of revision resources that can be found here. We advise all students to utilise these in the build up to their exams, with each resource designed to provide bespoke support that is linked to the paper they will be sitting.

Please be aware that for the duration of the exam period (Monday 17th – Friday 28th November) all Year 11 students will attend break 2 (11:00am – 11:20am). All students will also be on lunch 2 (1:25pm – 2:00pm). These changes have been made to ensure students are provided the appropriate time required to complete their examinations.

Students are reminded that they must attend in full academy uniform to enter the examination hall and with all their learning resources including all required equipment. Students must attend the academy each day on time as usual. Exams will start at the following times:

  • Morning 1 exams start at 8:30am
  • Morning 2 exams start at 11:20am
  • Afternoon exams start at 2:00pm

When students are not in an exam, they will follow their usual timetabled lessons. Your child has been given a copy of their personalised exam schedule with their seat number which will remain the same for each exam they sit.  Please be informed that your child may be refused entry to the exam hall if they are late, as doing so will be disruptive to students who have started on time.

During the exam:

  • Your child must not have in possession a mobile phone or any other unauthorised items including watches even if they do not intend to use it.  These items must be switched off and placed in their bags and left at the back of the exam hall or given to an invigilator.
  • Any pencil cases taken into the exam room must be see-through.
  • Drink bottles must be transparent with all labels removed which would include transparent, reusable plastic bottles.
  • Exam conditions apply once students enter the exams hall.  This means that they must not talk to, attempt to communicate with or disturb other candidates.
  • Students must stay in their seats for the duration of the exam even if they have finished early.  Students finishing early should use the time to check their answers.

Modern Foreign Languages

Students who study French or Spanish, they will have their speaking assessments prior to the mock examinations. They will take place on Tuesday 11th November, Wednesday 12th November, and Friday 14th November. Please ensure your child is prepared for their assigned slot on these dates; they will be receiving specific details regarding the time and date for their assessment from their respective teacher very soon. This is a crucial opportunity for students to demonstrate their conversational proficiency, so we encourage them to practice their speaking skills in the coming weeks.

Practical Assessments

Please be aware that part of the exam timetable for year 11 students will include practical assessments the week beginning the 1st December 2025. Some of the work produced in these assessments will be used in students’ graded coursework folders and final portfolios, and so will form part of a student’s final grade. Students will work directly with their teachers before their assessments so that they have the best chance possible to achieve the top grades.

Mock Exam tiers

Your child will be bringing home an important letter today regarding their mock examination tier decisions. Please take a few moments to read through it carefully.

The letter outlines the exam tiers your child has been entered for in certain subjects, based on their current progress and teacher recommendations. These decisions are made to ensure each student is working at the level that best supports their learning and future success.

If you have any questions, please contact your child’s college team via email.

I wish to take this opportunity to wish Year 11 students all the very best in their upcoming examinations.

Yours faithfully,

Mr. M. Stevens | Principal
