Dear parent/ carer,
Return to Module 2 expectations
Thank you for your continued support and engagement with the academy to support your child’s education. Our disruption free ‘Minster Way’ model has ensured that all students have had a purposeful start to the academic year, with learning being prioritised via our on-call system.
As we prepare to return for the beginning of Module 2, please find below a number of key reminders and updates. Whilst your child will be reminded of these expectations when they return to the Academy, please speak to them to prepare them for their return on the 3rd November;
Merit Points
Students continue to earn merit points with over 30,000 points being awarded during module 1. Module 2 will culminate with a series of rewards assemblies in the final week where students will be recognised for their efforts and achievements.
Students are awarded merit points for demonstrating one or more of the ten IB Learner Profile Attributes: Inquiries | Communicators | Caring | Knowledgeable | Principled | Risk Takers | Thinkers | Open Minded | Balanced | Reflective.
Uniform
Please ensure you order any uniform items in good time for our return on Monday 3 November 2025. As the weather changes please ensure that your child has a suitable coat (black or navy in colour) for their journey to and from the academy.
Students continue to look smart in their uniform with the vast majority of students wearing their uniform correctly every day. For the small minority of students who continue to persistently fail our expectations e.g. rolling up of a students skirt, they will be sanctioned in line with our behaviour policy.
Students who attend the academy in incorrect uniform will not be permitted to attend lessons. If a student has a valid medical reason for not wearing a full uniform e.g. the wearing of trainers, this must be supported with medical evidence.
Sanctions and consequences
From the beginning of Module 2, those students who are issued a day in our Curriculum Support Room (CSR), for either 2 on calls in a day, or for failing to attend a 60 minute detention will serve a 1 hour detention that at the end of their CSR day, meaning these students will leave at 4.15pm. If a student refuses to attend they will fail their CSR day and will be required to complete the full day in the CSR, including their detention on the following day.
Communicating with the academy
Thank you for your continued engagement with the Academy through our college email systems. The academy receives a large number of calls per day from families which sometimes can lead to phone lines being unanswered. The most effective method of communicating with us is via email, and our dedicated college administrators look to work with families to provide a swift response through the college mailboxes. Please see below the dedicated email addresses:

- Wright College – wright@minster.latrust.org.uk

Year 11 – Period 6 intervention
All Year 11 students continue to have the opportunity to be supported through period 6 intervention. This intervention is designed to reduce any gaps in their learning and prepare them for their GCSE examinations. Students will be issued with a period 6 timetable to follow. A reminder to all families that students are able to access a 4:30pm bus service to support their travel home.
We thank you for your continued support of the Academy and look forward to welcoming your child back to the academy on Monday 3rd November.
Yours sincerely
Mr P. Mortley | Deputy Principal for Leigh Academy Minster
