Post-16
at Leigh Academy Minster
Post-16 Open Evening for September 2025 Admissions – 20th November 2024
Leigh Academy Minster has its own dedicated Post 16 college – Hewlett College.
Hewlett College offers students a comprehensive range of Level 3 academic and vocational qualifications, ensuring a high-quality education. All Post 16 students benefit from consistent support within their dedicated Post 16 college, in addition to utilising well-equipped modern social and study spaces.
Each Post 16 student follows a personalised timetable that allocates specific time for seeking work experience, employment opportunities and independent study. This structured timetable ensures that students graduate with extensive real-world experience, preparing them for success in university, advanced apprenticeships or the professional workplace.
Admission to Level 3 programmes at Leigh Academy Minster is contingent upon strict entry requirements aimed at ensuring a high academic standard. These entry requirements are in place to guarantee that students entering Level 3 programmes are well-prepared and committed to the academic challenges and rigours associated with higher-level qualifications.
Prospective students are expected to have demonstrated a strong foundation in relevant Level 2 qualifications. All programmes have an entry threshold of at least a GCSE grade 5 or an equivalent qualification. Students wishing to study science and/or mathematics require a minimum GCSE grade 6 or higher. All students are expected to have achieved a Good or Strong Pass in English and mathematics.
All courses will run dependent on student numbers. Further information on each subject and its entry requirements can be found on the academy’s Post-16 Admissions platform.
Applications to Leigh Academy Minster’s Post-16 are managed through a system called Admissions+, powered by Applicaa. A link to this portal will be available on our website when it becomes live. When using the portal for the first time, you will be prompted to self-register and create a user profile in order to complete the application. You will be required to supply your personal information, current place of education, predicted grades and then select your courses.
You may be offered the opportunity to discuss your choice of courses in a one-to-one guidance meeting, which may take place virtually or by telephone. References may also be requested, so please ensure that you provide the correct contact details for the appropriate staff member when prompted during the application process. Once we have all of the information that we need, we will be in a position to provide a formal conditional offer via Admissions+ which will be emailed to you. Following receipt of this, we request that you either accept or decline at your earliest convenience.
