Dear parent/ carer,
Leigh Academy Minster Post 16 Follow up and key information – Internal Students
Following our highly successful Post 16 Open Evening last week, we would like to sincerely thank all the Year 11 students and families who attended. It was wonderful to see the level of engagement, the great conversations taking place on the subject stalls, and the high interest shown in our curriculum pathways for September 2026 admission.
For those who were unable to attend, or for families who would like to revisit the information shared on the night, we are delighted to provide the following essential resources, as your child considers their next steps. Please find:
- The link to our Post 16 page on our academy website. From here you will be able to review the overview of our offer and links to useful resources and information.
- The link to our Post 16 information booklet that details all aspects of our provision, pathways, subjects on offer and blocking for subject selection.
- The link to our admission scheme document, with key dates for the academic year, supporting application, taster and results days.
We understand that year 11 students are currently working hard on their mock examinations. Whilst their focus remains on achieving their best in these assessments, we wanted to share this crucial Post 16 information with you now to provide them with enough time to apply. .
Our next steps will focus on ensuring ongoing support for all students as they refine their choices, involving::
- Follow-up support sessions during tutor time.
- Dedicated assemblies covering the Post 16 pathways.
- Additional invitations to Hewlett College for bespoke, pathway conversations.
- Taster sessions in February to provide hands-on experience and support students in making their final choices and smooth progression to their next steps.
We are thrilled by the high level of enthusiasm for the next stage of education and remain committed to supporting your child in making a successful transition to Post 16 study. If you have any additional questions about our curriculum or the application process, please do not hesitate to email us at hewlett@minster.latrust.org.uk.
Yours faithfully,
Mrs C. Spocchia
Vice Principal | Head of Hewlett College
