Dear parents/ carers,
I hope you had a fantastic Winter Break and New Year, and it has been a pleasure to welcome students back to the academy over the last fortnight. Thank you for your continued support and feedback on the academy, we review every correspondence, with this a key element of our partnership with you. Following on from your feedback and queries over the last two weeks, please see below key information for your reference:
Use of academy car parks and road network during drop off and collection
All families are asked to utilise the academy’s large visitors car park during drop and collection, which can be found to the left of the academy’s entrance road. Please note that it takes students around 5 minutes to walk from the car park to the college line-up area, so please plan accordingly to ensure your child is able to make it to this area on time.
To ensure the smooth and safe access of Travel Masters and Chalkwell buses, and to uphold the road safety of our students, please refrain from parking in designated bus lanes, on double yellow lines or grass verges. Please also refrain from dropping students off on the main roundabout road, with this placing students at a risk of harm.
Year 11 Period 6 Intervention
To support your child in the build up to their mock examinations, the academy is committed to providing additional learning opportunities to support the progress of its students, ensuring that they are given the tools and resources to achieve their expected levels of progress.
This intervention will be provided through classroom-based learning and will run from 3:15pm until 4:10pm on selected days. The sessions have been designed to target gaps that have been identified from the November mock examinations.
Your child has been issued with a personalised copy of their timetable which indicates the period 6 session they must attend.
Year 11 and 13 Parent’s Evening
The above event will take place at the academy on Thursday 22nd January from 3.45- 6.45pm. A letter was sent to all parents/ carers to notify them of the arrangements via MCAS.
Year 10 and 12 Parent’s Evening
The above event will take place at the academy on Thursday 5th February from 3.45- 6.45pm. A letter was sent to all parents/ carers to notify them that the booking system is open via MCAS.
Year 8 HPV Vaccination
A letter was sent prior to the Christmas break informing you that the NHS Immunisation Team will be visiting the academy on Tuesday 3rd February to invite Year 8 students to be vaccinated against Human Papilloma Virus (HPV).
To give consent for your child to be vaccinated, complete the e-consent form online by Thursday 29th January at 4pm at: https://www.kentimmunisations.co.uk/
The academy only facilities this event and has no involvement with any consent. Please ensure all queries are discussed with the Immunisation Team via email: kchft.cyp-immunisationteam@nhs.net or via telephone: 0300 123 5205.
Emergency contacts
A number of students only have 1 emergency contact number on their MCAS, which can prove difficult to get hold of if something were to happen to your child. Can we therefore ask parents/ carers to ensure that a second contact is added to their child’s account. This could be another family member, a family friend, neighbour etc. When you are signed into MCAS, on the My Child dashboard, go to the Data Collection Form module, and then make amendments to the relevant sections. After changes have been made, make sure to click save.
Latest News and Letters
We would like to inform you that all school letters are now available on our website. While we will continue to send all correspondence via MCAS and email, this new website section provides a central area for you to view every letter shared during this academic year. This update aims to save you time by removing the need to scroll through past emails or contact individual colleges for copies of missed information. ParentPay
Please can we ask families to address any outstanding payments for purchases made by your child and top up ready for your child’s return to the academy on Monday.
