Comms W/C – 2nd March 2026

Dear parents/ carers,

It has been fantastic to welcome students back for the start of Module 4, and it has been a pleasure to see them once again engaging in their studies and accessing the high quality education we offer. For many of our Year 11 students, the February Half Term saw them attending our ‘Winter School’, additional sessions run by their class teachers in the build up to their GCSE examinations just 8 weeks away. Attendance was incredibly strong throughout the three day programme, and I would like to take the opportunity to thank all those families who supported their child attending. As we draw to the close of our first week back, please see below a range of key reminders and updates for your reference:

Year 11 and 13 Mock Examinations

Mock examinations for students in Year 11 and Year 13 are scheduled to take place from 2nd March to November 28th.

We ask for your support in ensuring your child’s full attendance during this crucial period. It’s essential that students are present for all exams so teachers can accurately determine their current progress and identify areas needing improvement. This data is vital as it allows staff to tailor future lesson plans to best support your child’s learning and help them achieve their academic goals.

Year 9 Parent’s and Options Evening

The above event will take place at the academy on Thursday 26th March from 3.45- 6.45pm. A letter was sent to all parents/ carers with students in this year group on Wednesday to notify them when the booking system will open. You will be able to make appointments with your child’s Teachers via MCAS which will go live at 4pm on Wednesday 4th March 2026.

If you are yet to activate your My Child At School account, please contact your child’s college prior to the booking day.

Gas Network Upgrade – Minster Road

As many of you may have already seen, there has been a further release of planned works as part of a Gas Network upgrade. The major part of these works, specifically outside the academy’s entrance, is scheduled to take place this week. A full schedule is available here. These works have been planned to specifically avoid direct disruption to the academy during term time.

If your child access the TravelMasters buses, please see below information that has been shared by the company in regards to plans for the next few weeks:

Buses that stop at Minster Primary, Minster Library and Harps Inn will now have to use either Back Lane at the top of Scocles Road or the bus stop at the bottom of Bartons Hill Drive/Minster Road. The buses will be diverted through Thistle Hill but will not be stopping at any stops.

370B: This service will still enter through Thistle Hill but will turn around at Thistle Hill Primary and will then pick up at the bottom of Bartons Hill Drive/Minster Road. This bus will NOT be serving Scocles Road and Minster Road.

Use of academy car parks and road network during drop off and collection

All families are asked to utilise the academy’s large visitors car park during drop and collection, which can be found to the left of the academy’s entrance road. Please note that it takes students around 5 minutes to walk from the car park to the college line-up area, so please plan accordingly to ensure your child is able to make it to this area on time. To ensure the smooth and safe access of TravelMasters and Chalkwell buses, and to uphold the road safety of our students, please refrain from parking in designated bus lanes, on double yellow lines or grass verges.

Additionally, there is a tab dedicated to giving advice for parents on how you can support your child on a number of matters.
